FAQs

  • This is something you will have to determine on your own, but bear in mind that you will need to have time to setup, have your subjects get ready, and to take down, clean up and return any props, furniture and lighting equipment to it’s original location before you leave.

Unless the space is rented immediately after your shoot, we will stop by and inspect the space to make sure it is ready for our next renter.

It is possible to do simple shoots in an hour. Keep in mind that the next hour slot may be booked. If you need more time, check the schedule and you can add additional time to your booking. An automatic overtime fee will be charged if you are on site more than five minutes past the scheduled time. Please see the “what if my shoot runs over” in the FAQ for the overtime fee.

*Some of our customers book the space for multiple hours and shoot multiple subjects while they have the studio reserved. This is an efficient way to use the space; choose a date, book a few hours and then market a shoot based on that date. It works great!

  • Your booked session is time limited by the hour. You will need to book enough time for setup and cleanup after your shoot. If the hour following your session is NOT booked ( you can check this on the scheduling calendar ) you can add an additional hour to your original booking.

You may also reach out to us through our social media platforms or cell phone numbers (supplied in your “see you at the studio” email) if you are unsure of availability.

  • Please do not arrive prior to your confirmed start time, we do not have a waiting room for customers. It is also your responsibility to inform your entire party of this policy. Another photographer may be finishing up their shoot, and they should not be interrupted as they are finishing up.

IF and ONLY IF the studio IS NOT rented prior to your scheduled time, you may arrive up to 10 minutes early. If you arrive more than 10 minutes ahead of schedule, the card on file will be charged the overtime fee rate of $5 for every 10 minutes up to 30 minutes.

If you or your party arrive early 30 minutes or more you will be charged for an additional hour

  • Please book enough time to set up, shoot in the space, and clean up after your shoot. This includes returning all props and furniture back to the way you found them. We ask that you be mindful of the reservation starting after you.

An overtime fee will be automatically be charged to the card on file at a rate of $10 for every 5 minutes over the original reservation end time.

This also applies to reservation start time, you may arrive up to 10 minutes early, IF the studio IS NOT rented prior to your scheduled time. If you arrive more than 10 minutes ahead of schedule, the card on file will be charged the overtime fee rate listed above up to 30 minutes. If you or you party arrive early 30 minutes or more you will be charged for an additional hour

*Your reservation time starts at the time booked, regardless of if you arrive late.

  • To Cancel or Reschedule your session please send us either an email, or DM on one of our social media pages. You can Cancel or Reschedule up to 48 hours before your scheduled session. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the scheduled time will not result in a credit.

  • No. You may have multiple people come to be photographed during your session, and you may bring an assistant, or a stylist, but your session is for one content creator ( photographer or videographer ); the one that booked the studio. We monitor the usage of the studio remotely, and violation of this policy will result in an additional fee being charged. In general, sharing your booked session with another photographer with their own clients, is against our studio usage policy.

It the studio is rented for a production that includes stills and video ( a common practice for commercial projects ) of the same subject matter, then the use by dual content creators is allowed.

  • Your reservation includes the use of all the furniture, props and accessories, rolling backdrops, seamless paper, and lighting tripods in our current inventory. You are welcome to bring in props that will enhance your shoot, however, please be mindful of items not allow (see list at booking).

  • We strive to provide what you need for your shoot, and we have chosen to provide continuous LED lights that will match the available daylight, (during daylight hours) so that you can easily mix the lights with the window light. Our light will already be on a rolling stand, with an attached sandbag for safety. Each light will also have an instruction card attached. The featured Aputure LS 600x Pro includes a large 34.8" Light Dome II and 55° Hyper Reflector. The LED light is adjustable from 0-100% brightness, and from 2700K to 6500K. The precision fixture has an expansive variable color temperature range from 2700 to 6500K with a high CRI/TLCI rating of 96 - your assurance of precise color reproduction. Besides power, control is a driving force in the design of the 600x Pro.

These are great lights, and they are very simple to use. Even when the sun has set, these lights provide a light level suitable for still photography and video production. The studio overhead lights are daylight balanced, so they may be left on or turned off.

If working with lighting equipment is a new experience, consider taking one of our workshops where we will show you how to get the most out to the Open Space Studios lighting equipment.

  • No. Our lighting systems should be left together, set up as they were when you arrived. We realize that this may be an inconvenience. This policy is for safety reasons for both the people in the studio and the equipment. The OS Studio lights may not be removed from the studio.

  • Absolutely. However you will be responsible for the safe use of any equipment that you bring into the studio.
